I have a spare imac G5 around and was thinking about using it as my desktop computer (I've been using a laptop for a few years now), but I don't want to be stuck with osx, I know there's an arch ppc project, but I couldn't find much information about dualbooting it alongside with osx, and how will the partitions/grub work.
I was wondering if anyone has gotten this to work and could provide me a link to a how-to or walk me through the simple steps? Thanks
I found this site http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ins … _Linux_PPC but I'm not sure if I'll be able to boot into osx if I format and partition the imac as in the guide.

I often search for ubuntu pages when I'm trying something new. Ubuntu has a lot of users and many of them like to make web pages about their experiences I would google:
ubuntu ppc osx
and see what I could find. The specifics of distro installation will be different (the screenshots will be totally wrong), but the general concepts will be the same.

Yea there seems to be quite a few pages on ubuntu/osx, I'll do a search on their sites, guess I'll have to mix the steps up a bit, thanks

Arch Linux PPC is 32 bit and G5 is 64 bit, so it will not work out of the box as you need a 64 bit kernel. There have been posts about it on this forum (look for G5 Imacà
