Will applications upgrade themselves?
If I have KDE 4.0, gnome 2.20 and firefox 2 installed, will they be upgraded by pacman to KDE 4.1 (once it comes out), gnome 2.22 and firefox 3 (once it is released)? thanks.

It depends where you got KDE 4.0 from.
If you used pacman to get it, then pacman -Syu will do the trick.
