prompt user before running command?

Hi all.
I'm just wondering if there was a simple, built-in command for bash that will have a gui pop up asking if the user wants to continue or cancel a command.

There's always zenity, but I'm pretty sure I remember seeing something much simpler, but I can't for the life of me find it. ><

Any help or advice is appreciated.

And for the curious, I hope to use this for halt, reboot, and log out. I find it much more user friendly if I am asked before everything is closed. smile

Re: prompt user before running command?

bash? gui? nope. bash itself has nothing to do with gui.
just use something like zenity.

Re: prompt user before running command?

you may want to take a look at dialog. Its sort of a curses/built in terminal appearance.
