glxgears fails to start (Locking assertion failure)

Hello, I've been trying to run some games without much luck and noticed that glxgears and glxinfo is no longer running either.

I'm using xmonad WM and tried pekwm with the same result

I tried declare -x LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK="1" and "true" but it didn't fix much.

I'm running a matrox p650 and it has worked before on  2.6.24-ARCH

Thanks any help on what might be wrong is appreciated.
