Set up Xorg inside guest VirtualBox

I just can't seem to make it work.

These are the last lines of the output after I try to launch startx as root:

(==) Log file: "/var/log/Xorg.0.log", Time: Sun Apr 27 23:33:07 2008
(==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf"
(II) Module "ddc" already built-in
(EE) Failed to load module "type1" (module does not exist, 0)

waiting for X server to shut down FreeFontPath: FPE "/usr/share/fonts/misc:unscaled" refcount is 2, should be 1; fixing.

I commented out the "load type1" line in xorg.conf (what is type1 module anyway?)
and still it won't run. This is the only error in the xorg logfile (EE).

Running grep '(WW)' /var/log/Xorg.0.log produces this:

(WW) The directory "/usr/share/fonts/PEX" does not exist.
(WW) The directory "/usr/share/fonts/western" does not exist.
(WW) The directory "/usr/share/fonts/decoratives" does not exist.

(WW) Warning, couldn't open module type1

I am running arch as guest OS under winxp using Virtualbox.
I have installed Xorg and KDE using their Wiki pages on the site.

Help! mad

p.s. is there a way to copy an entire file or text segmant from the guest os to the host os, it's just annoying to type it all manually each time tongue

Re: Set up Xorg inside guest VirtualBox

As for getting X to work, it seems you have none of the X fonts installed. Use the metapackage xorg (pacman -S xorg) to get every part of X you need.

About the files? If you're using proprietary VirtualBox I believe there's a shared folder option, it's not present in OSE (which I use).

Re: Set up Xorg inside guest VirtualBox

I added kdm to the DEAMONS array in rc.conf and it works now smile
