exaile and oss

So I recently switched over to oss4 and I installed exaile today (yes, I saw the thread about building gnome-python-extras in abs); once I play a file with exaile, I not only hear the music, but a lot of loud static as well. I've never experienced this before except with oss. Does anyone else get this?

I to get this (amd64,oss4,exaile)
First things first I use Gentoo on my desktop (arch for NAS and eeePC) but the issue seems to be the same

for some strange reason the only way to get it working nicely is for me to re-emerge: gst-plugins-alsa.
Even tho these files never get changed each boot I need todo this

This points to maybe some prelinking/preloading is needed on the  libs that this package provides

try re-pacman the gstplugins (can't remeber if it is good/bad/ugly tho)
I am digging through trying to sort this out tho atm
