I created a repository where you can find amarok 1.4.9.1 (i686). To use it, add:
[amarok]
Server = http://manuelverriez.free.fr/arch/os/i686/
to your pacman.conf
This version that is not in Extra for the moment, corrects cover fetching from amazon that did not work anymore with 1.4.8.

I do pacman -Syu and it doesn't tell me that there is an upgrade for amarok...it did download when it synced, just doesn't tell me there's an update.

You will have to move this repository above [extra] in your pacman.conf.

Thanks! I'm gonna try it right now I hope it fixes my LastFm streaming and Cover Fetching problems.
EDIT: Well, the Cover Art fetching works, but no LastFM streaming. Sometimes it works and some times it doesn't Does it work for you guys? I get a "no demuxer found" error when playing a custom radio (like similar artists) and a "the feature is for subscribers only" when I try to play my personal Radio. Strange enough it was working about 3 days ago

hmm, i do not have any problem, i can play my "neighbour radio".
You can only listen to your own radio if you're not yourself, I think. So you need to log out, or subscribe.

instead of adding a repository for just 1 program I think you can do
pacman -U http://manuelverriez.free.fr/arch/os/i686/amarok-base-1.4.9.1-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz http://manuelverriez.free.fr/arch/os/i686/amarok-engine-xine-1.4.9.1-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz
Remember you are installing a package from an unofficial source with all the risks it brings about.

FYI, the amarok in extra has been updated to 1.4.9.1. Only the x86_64 packages are available now. The i686 packages will be updated later today.

w00t? the i686 community has been ignored again??
(Just kidding =P )
It's nice to see, however, that when the developers or maintainers have little time, there is always a user that can provide us with good packages
mverriez: if you have the time maybe you could help maintaining the amarok package?
