Can I dissagree?
I got better results with slax. Nothing against faunos, but the download is huge -933 mb- vs 192 from slax "full edition". IMHO
In 192 mb. you have from KDE to different dev tools, and adding your very own packages is quite simple.

P.S. Larch is a very cool live-cd-based-on-arch tool. You can build your distro to fit your very own needs. However, you need some practice in order to get the "ellegance" of slax. Again, nothing agains Larch, It's a pretty cool tool --- It helped me to convert a lot of people from win to lnx. ^_^

They say that if you play a Win cd backward you hear satanic messages. That's nothing! 'cause if you play it forwards, it installs windows.

Not that I don't like slax, it's just that lots of nifty command line tools one is used to (eg. vim, htop, ...) are missing in slax, so I had to add quite some stuff to make it comfortable for me (yes - it's easy, but still..)
Have a look at godane's arch-live.

Faunos is indeed about 1GB at initial install. However, the system include pactrac which is a gui front-end for pacman. Utilizing that program, "build down" the system to what you desire and add programs you desire(always changing!).
Initially, a 2GB flash is desirable and re-partition of the initial install partition is recommended.
It is also possible to "downsize" via pacman to enable initial install size to be less than 900MB by removing packages. Thus, a 1GB flash drive should be adequate to start up with faunos.
Nothing is more stable than faunos "stable".
