will alsa have support for the x-fi series by creative? i just want things to be simple.
now my main question, i want to re size my archlinux partitions, so that my home partition can be larger. So were could i find this info, or how would i go about doing it.

For resizing the simplest thing to do is install gparted.

I recommend gparted as well.
As far as the X-FI sound card, I don't have any personal experience with it, but a quick scan of google search results leads me to believe there are still no linux drivers for it. What a shame.

Note: gparted have a live CD too.

thats mostly the fault of creative who doesn't want to help the driver developing community...

Er... I might be mistaken but aren't these:
www.x-drivers.com/catalog/drivers/sound … /8054.html
linux / linux64 drivers for X-Fi fatality?

If you have problems with the gparted-live-cd (a friend of me had them), try the System-Rescue-CD, it also includes gparted and works fine.
