This is really odd, especially since kde/qt does not depend on php. You could try to remove the php package and see what happens.

It's the QT package. I did a pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/qt-"whatever the previous version was" and everything worked after an X restart (sans the newer QT package package of course).

Sorry I haven't been near my PPC laptop lately. It's the qt3 package (the others are fine, including qt-4). There will be a couple (at least two) cache files. You are looking for the sequential version just before the latest one. It would be qt3-3.3.8-7-ppc.pkg.tar.gz as the latest, so right before that would be what you want to pacman -U (again, away from the laptop so I can't be ultra specific). Ideally do this when X windows isn't running, therefore after the downgrade all you have to do is load X windows and your Window Decs and other setting will be accessible under the Appearances menu again.

So it's the qt3 package that causes the problem? Strange, the manpath in qt3.profile is the only change from the previous pkgrel. I can't even reproduce the bug
I'm no kde user tho.

If I have some time I play with it in the coming days I will see what more I can find. It is definitely the qt3 package though. I'm assuming since you don't use KDE you probably don't experience much other then the default included window decorations and icons. I use non-standard everything, so I noticed the change right away.
