updated and now I've got a couple of problems

I just ran pacman -Syu and now my Gnome background doesn't show up (it's completely black, despite System>Preference>Appearance showing a background there.

Also, I can not longer run shutdown -r now as root.

Any ideas?

This doesn't work for me either, I guess it's due to the broken Nautilus package.

Does running "reboot" work, maybe?

It's weird.  I commented out gdm in /etc/rc.conf, rebooted started X and it worked.  So I commented gdm back in, rebooted, and now it's working.

Arch linux weirdness.  "Computer says no"
