I just wanted to make sure we don't already have that feature in our forums, and if not, where can one request such a feature?

I don't believe that is an available feature.
The place to request such a feature is upstream, at punbb.org (see the 'powered by punbb' link in the bottom right hand corner of this forum').

While I don't have a solution how to implement such a feature I have a workaround which could be useful for you: Hit the "search" button on top of the page, enter your search keywords, change "show results as topic" to "show results as posts". Good luck.

It's useful for long threads ie) I was searching for mrxvt and ofcourse there's a post in the monthly screen shots thread which are 20+ pages long, it's cumbersome to go through each page and ctrl+f "mrxvt". I'm sure there are other situations and maybe other users who've seen this feature and/or would like it?
