Hello, I wanted to know if you can make one of two transparent panels that I have in xfce.
I've tried with the compositor and transparency, but also the icons become transparent.
I want the icons opaque and the background transparent ....
thank you.

this is what you do:
1. make sure you have composite extension running.
2. goto setting->window manager tweaks and make sure xcomposite is enabled for xfce
3. on panel, right click ->Customize Panel. you should find a setting that will let you specify the opacity for the panel. voila, you have transparency, tweak it to your liking.

As I wrote in the first post in this way also become transparent icons ...
I would like icons opaque.

I think that's a feature the XFCE has listed as todo. I might be wrong but I believe it's not done yet.
Edit: you could of course use a package like wbar if you would like to get a transparent panel with some effects.
