Hello
please can you help me to add a user account into Arch?
i have installed Arch but never created any accounts on the way...
I currently log into Arch by typing......root............then pressing enter
when i run the app called gdm......the login screen won't accept just.....root...then pressing enter.
somebody mentioned that gdm may not have root enabled...
either way....i can't login to my desktop anyhow.....
should i create a new user account.....or how to i enable root in gdm?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
add a new user account seams common sense to me....from the command prompt...
or even give my root account a password....
thanks
Vince.

You can select the session from gdm before you login. Does it not show up in the sessions menu?
Also your root password isn't blank is it?

It does by default to stop ppl running x as root unknowingly, but I think you can turn it on

Yes, and yes you can turn it off. Although you shouldn't...

And you shouldn't use a blank password for your root account.....what's the matter with you man ???
The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner.

But if they tell you that I've lost my mind, maybe it's not gone just a little hard to find...
