- ruby-wmii with tweaked standard plugins and some of my own plugins
- urxvt
- emacs (color-theme-comidia)
- mocp

No inspiration needed, just clean, easy to use efficiency. I used to get that feeling you're talking about where you want to try out all these great new distros/wms. I then realized I was just bored. Perhaps you need to find a good problem (engineering or otherwise) and start hacking on it (coding or whatever).

I thought ruby-wmii was a dead project by now. The page in the wiki seems very outdated...

Using openbox with xcompmgr and 5 conkys (don't know how to make it vertical otherwise... any ideas?), screen in urxvt, kazehakase, vim in urxvt. Also, the openbox theme is a modified Nova-arch (i think, don't quite remember hmm)

Btw, just switched back to arch about a week ago, and am here to stay smile

Edit: My bad, the openbox theme is a modified arch-blue.

Could you post your configs? conkyrc, etc

Sure:

You can get an idea of how I start everything from the autostart.sh file; I have a bunch of sleeps in there cause my computer is a bit slow, so you may be able to make the sleeps a bit shorter.

I'd rather have a darker one, but the gnome panels don't lend themselves nicely to such customization smile

Re: May 2008 Screenshots

Welp, just reinstalled arch today and started on this, it seems to work a different way to most of the ones posted (or at least, is far less efficient and thought out, depending on your view point). I'm just using compiz, emerald, trayer and tilda and have yet to find something that's hard to do with the combo.

This is the normal terminalin' shot:

200805092116051280x800snm8.th.png

using three tilda's to get this, the bottom one is going to be full of ncmpc once I get some more time (damned A Levels). Also, thanks to the guy with the aperture science background- awesome plan.

And here's the obligatory "I do actually use this machine for something, look at me!" shot. Note the messy themeing.

200805092119111280x800sdb4.th.png

On a side note, I've been trying to install some icons. I extract them to ~/.icons and put

gtk-icon-theme-name="themename"

in my gtkrc-2.0. I've tried themename being the theme name in the index.theme in the theme, and the full path to the theme dir, and the full path to the index.theme. I've also tried them in /usr/share/icons with the same three options. Any ideas?

It is xfdesktop, the app that's used to manage the Xfce desktop, having problems with it loading at start up though.

No deader than usual! lol Really, I wouldn't say it's dead, just mature. It is current up to wmii 3.6, so that means updates at least in the last few months. There are a couple of people working on it, so you can find more information than that on eigenclass.org. Once I finish a couple of other projects I'll try to bring it up to compatible with wmii-hg, if no one else has already done it yet. Besides, it works great for me right now, and I've got the Ruby skills to update it if something big happens to wmii.

j
