Ok so I know the first thing after i install arch i will need internet, and my only connection is a linksys wmp54gs wireless card which uses the bcmwl5 driver with ndiswrapper. What should i do/download beforehand so i can get this working before i go ahead and install arch.

You've been hanging around those forums for a year and you don't know?
Obviously your drivers, and a supplicant if necessary.

well i tried arch last year and the problem was that it didnt come with everything i needed to get wireless to work, and i was tired of switching back and forth to windows to get everything so i switched to ubuntu which worked perfectly OOBl. Guess ill just try it when it downloads.
Is there a better way, using the bcm43XX mod or ndiswrapper?

Native driver is always recommended, if it doesn't work, pick ndiswrapper. If you like Ubuntu, why not stick with it?

You might want to give the b43 driver a try as it seems like they support more device than ndiswrapper.
Also I suggest that you have your computer pluged into a wired connection while you are download the packages to make wireless work, this will save you much time!

All packages required for wireless configuration are included on recent ISOs - no additional downloads are necessary. The 2008.04-rc ISO is recommended, details here.

Do the installation images include the base-devel group, in case I need to build the driver?
Is there a package list available somewhere?
Thanks

The install isos provide everything in the core repo, so that covers all of base-devel.
