How to make the minimalized window looks like this?

I found some screenshots of window manager showing its minimalized windows as if they were scaled down like in the screenshot below. It seems all the screenshots uses the fvwm for their wm. I am wondering if I can do the same thing with other wms. I really like this feature, but fvwm configurations seems to require a good amount of time to get used to.

It's called window shading, and I believe that nearly everything can do it. Search for that for whatever WM, and I'm sure you'll find a solution quickly.

He means on the right. I believe that is FVWM.

yes I meant the scaled down windows on the right side of desktop. Is is the feature that no other wm can provide?

It's been a long time since I used it, but I'm pretty sure e16 can do that.

Those windows are "iconified", besides fvwm and e16/17(?), rox can also iconify windows. You can also use KDE/GNOME/XFCE but let fvwm do the window management, or in case of rox let it manage the desktop/work surface, and so you get iconified windows under your favorite desktop enviroment.

You need to install an RTFM interface.

XFCE and (as anrxc said) ROX can iconify windows. The only problem is that they both use the window icon rather than making a thumbnail. AFAIK, only E and FVWM do that at the moment.

Perhaps there is a compiz addon/plugin for that? There already are mini previews of minimized windows. I dont think thats a lot different than this.

There is a compiz fusion plugin to replicate this.

View here.

Something witty.
