I can't hardly wait to make a clean install to a friend of mine.
I ask the ones who know to inform us about when 0.7 will ship!
I bet this monday or the worst by the end of the this week?

Indeed. I think we should see 0.7 very soon, possibly even before the end of the first quarter of 2005. (just trying to freak out zeppelin)

Huh?

I don't really know much about it, but IS Arch's use of udev feasible for use with a true workstation at this point? Meaning: will it be completely stable?

If it isn't now, when will it be (ETA?)???

udev is stable enough. however, there are some things it just cannot do yet that devfs can (i can't remember what). many people do curretnly use it ( such as me but my floppy and ejct do not work).

so far i still prefer devfs. the naming and over all configuration was much simpler.

So far I like the udev.

The new AL-AMLUG live CD 0.5.1 gives the user an option to select udev or devfs during booting..... let see what's the feedback. I will also add a poll in AMLUG web site. (CD is ready... waiting to get it uploaded)

you tried setting your floppy 660 by your user?
for me it works after it but i tested it only for cdroms

I downloaded the AMLUG-LIVE CD. The have done you a great service. I have a complete wombat w/udev running. Sound, printing, video playback, lm_sensors, etc.
I can not believe how clean Arch is compared to other distros. I have a fair amount of experience with various Linux distros. I believe this is the "Cleanest."
I perfer Fluxbox over KDE so I remove that. I installed the CVS of Fluxbox with no problems.
The only issues outstanding are hddtemp config and gkrellm plugins. I will get to those in a little while.
I am just seeing what Arch has to offer. The most important thing so far is udev, even though I don't use USB yet I like udev a lot. I never got into devfs.
Great work.....
I have even got the latest kernel 2.6.8-rc2-bk3 with con's CFQ scheduler working. It seem a bit snappier that my debian install.

I've got to agree. Nothing more barebones than the minimal Arch install. Gentoo can't be tweaked to be so small and simple. LFS maybe, but I've never tried it. I like Slackware as well, but it's init system leaves a lot of useless clutter. Perhaps after so long it could use some tweaking...
