I have a math textbook on the computer. It would be useful if I could draw on the computer desktop to help solve problems.
I would prefer to use gnome for this, but I am open to KDE or XFCE methods as well.

Install Compiz fusion and Enable annotate with CCSM.. For you, it will be
pacman -Sy compiz-fusion-plugins-main compiz-fusion-plugins-extra ccsm compiz-core compiz-decorator-gtk emerald
Then type ccsm and enable the plugin
