Which laptop accessory ?

As you all know laptops tend to become uncomfortable for the lap due to heating. So I'm thinking of buying some accessory to help with that. I've been browsing for a while and I just need some advice from you guys. Would I be better off with a cooling pad or a neat case or maybe something totally different?
