udev problem

i just got a new system and did a fresh install of arch on it, when booting up it sits at loading udev events and will sit there for what seems to be an eternity before showing it took 198299ms to load udev events and then everything else boots just fine. I have tried it with and with out the acpi=off added under grub for the kernel line and its the same either way, now when i was first running the install cd it was sitting at polling my firewire controller for a while so i looking in the bios and there is no way to disable the on board firewire controller. If this helps its a shuttle xpc running a c2duo e6600 @ 2.4 with 2 gigs of ddr2 800 this was susposed to be media / lan box and just for a little fyi i installed windows xp on a second drive and the onboard firewire works fine so i know its not he mobo.

Thanks
