screen resolution

Hi,

I have strange problem, I tried hwd and afterwards when I boot up, my screen resolution is too small (1024x768).  How ever if I do ctrl+alt+F2 and type as root /etc/rc.d/gdm restart I get X with correct resolution.

I'm puzzled. How can I tweak my configs so that I don't have restart gdm to get into correct screen resolution (1280x1024)?

Re: screen resolution

check your modelines in  /etc/X11/XF86Config

however, it is really strange, and it seems that your gnome settings ( gnome-display-properties ) for screen are better set than the modelines in XF86Config ( as gdm reads them also and not only the X-configfile )
