installing TrendNet USB TEW-424UB

hi guys!

im having trouble installing TrendNet USB TEW-424UB wireless adapter. i was able to install this and get this to work with ubuntu so i know this works. here is what i have dont so far...

1. install ndiswrapper and ndiswrapper-utils
2. plugged in my TEW-424UB wireless adapter and did lsusb:

Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0457:0163 Silicon Integrated Systems Corp. <---- TEW-424UB
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 046d:c041 Logitech, Inc.
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 045e:00db Microsoft Corp. Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 V1.0
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0557:7000 ATEN International Co., Ltd Hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001

3. sudo ndiswrapper -i SiS163u.INF ---> i got: "driver sis163u is already installed" (this is because i have tried this a number of times)
4. cat /etc/modprobe.d/ndiswrapper shows ---> alias wlan0 ndiswrapper
5.sudo modprobe ndiswrapper ---> FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found

This is where im stuck... i dont know if this has anything to do but im currently running 2.6.25.4 and i have another older kernel 2.6.24.7. not sure how pacman works or how ndiswrapper works; but is it safe to assume that ndiswrapper built ndiswrapper module in my current kernel 2.6.25.4 and not on my older 2.6.24.7. i dont know if im making any sense but i know that this wireless adapter worked in ubuntu so i know it works with linux its just that im missing or doing something wrong... help? thanks for your time!

Re: installing TrendNet USB TEW-424UB

maybe ndiswrapper wasn't update because your mirror hasn't finish sync.
ndiswrapper 1.52-4 is for 2.6.25.4

Re: installing TrendNet USB TEW-424UB

thanks for your reply wonder. i ran pacman -S ndiswrapper and here is what i got:

pacman -S ndiswrapper

warning: ndiswrapper-1.52-2 is up to date -- reinstalling
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...

Targets: ndiswrapper-1.52-2

Total Download Size: 0.00 MB
Total Installed Size: 0.22 MB

Proceed with installation? [Y/n]

so it seems that my ndiswrapper is 1.52-2, does that mean i need to use kernel 2.6.24.7?

Re: installing TrendNet USB TEW-424UB

wait your mirror to sync to use that version.
you sync your pacman database before trying to install ndiswrapper no?

Re: installing TrendNet USB TEW-424UB

right! i forgot about that! hehe... well i tried downloading the package manually and here is what i got:

pacman -U ndiswrapper-1.52-4-i686.pkg.tar.gz
loading package data...
checking dependencies...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: ndiswrapper: requires kernel26>=2.6.25.3-1

what does this mean? i currently use 2.6.25.4. does that mean pacman thinks im useing an older kernel? perhaps pacman thinks ive booted up my old 2.6.24.7?

the reason for th warning might be because i tried enabling the testing repos before than disabled them.
