laptop speaker still making sound when earphones plugged in

I've tried editing /etc/modprob.conf, but didn't work.
i've tried
    options snd-hda-intel model=laptop
    options snd-hda-intel model=hp
   options snd-hda-intel model=3stack
    options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=laptop
   .....
is there any other options, what do i need to know?

Re: laptop speaker still making sound when earphones plugged in

I had this problem, this was fixed for me with alsa 1.0.16.
I remember I also played with Alsamixer options (I use the gnome applet to do that : System -> Preferences -> Volume control and then Edit -> Preferences to activate everything), activating/deactivating switches/options.

Sorry I don't remember exactly what I did sad

Re: laptop speaker still making sound when earphones plugged in

I have the exact same issue. I have been trying to fix this for ages but no luck as of yet.
I have a 00:07.0 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP67 High Definition Audio (rev a1)

Re: laptop speaker still making sound when earphones plugged in

Yeah, of course it depends on your audio chip/card. I own a STAC9228 (hda-intel).

Good luck with that smile !

Maybe these links can help some of you:  (that's how I solved the problem with my hda-intel)

Re: laptop speaker still making sound when earphones plugged in

I have the same problem here. I tried fiddling with the modprobe options, but that didn't help much. Anyways, I don't know which one it is smile. If someone knows, I'd be happy to know. My hardware is

[dante4d ~]$ lspci | grep -i audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)

Well, that's the question smile. Maybe the best solutoin would be to look into particular source code of that driver module. I'm trying to solve this for some time now and I can't seem to get it working properly.
