Setting up KDE

Ok, i started with a base install of Arch .7 (Wombat) and X.org.

Since i'm a noob I installed KDE with the command  'pacman -Sy kde'

Everything downloaded and installed properly, but I'm just wondering how to set up XDM and whatnot so that it actually runs KDE.  Currently when I startX, it loads some wierd GUI with xterm.

Also,  it doesn't seem that the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf exists.  (which I will need to modify so that I can set up the nVidia drivers)

Re: Setting up KDE

OK, I set everything up....  unfortunately, X is reporting errors.

Apparently it's having issues with my mouse.
"cannot open device /dev/mouse"
"(ww) no core pointer registered"

I just have a basic Logitech PS/2 wheelmouse.  Is there a way to find out if I should set X to point somewhere else?

Re: Setting up KDE

/dev/psaux

it's also possible to use "search" in phpbb.

welcome to arch! big_smile

Edit: You start kde from /home/Bryan/.xinitrc with this line

exec startkde

using $ startx
good luck!

arch + gentoo + initng + python = enlisy
