ESD and non KDE applications

KDE doesn't need the esd daemon but applications like Mozila-Firefox need it. If I listen to music in Mozilla Firefox (and other applications) for example the bananaphone song and close the window esd is down too. After that I can't start esd again: it says that my sound device is busy. What shall I do now?

Re: ESD and non KDE applications

If you use kde I think you use arts as well.
Did you configure arts to use esd instead of alsa/oss?
Otherwise once esd release the resource (soundcard) arts get it and esd is not able to use it again.

If yes, tell arts to use esd, iso arts goes to the soundcard trought the esd daemon.
