Zen Sources

So I finally switched to Arch last week and I've been hearing a lot about a supposedly nifty little patch set called zen and how they are based on the CK patches.  Can someone go into a little bit of detail as to what the zen patches actually are?  The official gentoo thread only says "It's awesome, here's how to install it!" and nothing else.

Re: Zen Sources

"Bad ass Linux kernel.... (someone add better description)"

Still does not say anything about what it is relative to other patches.

Re: Zen Sources

Hmmm... that's quite the list. Intersting that it doesn't have theThinkpad ACPI patches, because both my Zen and TP builds from AUR are equally compatible with my X60 Tablet in terms of Thinkpad related features.

I think Thinkpad support is pretty good in the standard kernel (I have X60 no tablet). So what great features am I missing? (thinkpad_acpi module *is* in the stock kernel)

Re: Zen Sources

Bender02, I find that the new Thinkpad ACPI patch is able to idle at lower wattages then what is in the stock kernel. The differance is as great as 2 Watts. The stock kernel has an older version of the patch, but I'm not sure how much older.

Re: Zen Sources

That might be enough to convince me to compile my own kernel smile

Re: Zen Sources

Is there a PKGBUILD around for the newest version of the Zen Kernel?
The one in the AUR is quite old.

Re: Zen Sources

It compiles from git anyway, that AUR PKGBUILD should work well.
