Haha! thats screwed up smile
Try deleting the ".kde" folder in your $home (or rename it to be on the safe side). You'll put kde back to square one, so you'll have to configure to your liking again though.

No luck, I deleted the folder and reinstalled kde.

Re: Help with KDE fonts.[Solved]

Reinstalling kde wouldn't have helped anyway, since removing binary packages doesn't remove the settings *you* have in your home folder. I'm not running kde atm so i cant remeber where else it stores settings besides ".kde".
You haven't got any kdemod leftovers messing with your setup?

pacman -Q | grep kdemod

And you're running the "vanilla" qt, not the patched one?
Changing color scheme, style and fonts doesn't help?

Re: Help with KDE fonts.[Solved]

I tried changing fonts, themes and colors no luck. As far a "vanilla" I don't know I just did pacman -S kde. there were a few left over packages from kdemod. Got rid of those. Also did a pacman -Rs $(pacman -Qtdq) to get rid of some orphaned packages. So now I'll try a restart and see what happens.

Re: Help with KDE fonts.[Solved]

Didn't work. Is there a command for pacman to force it to replace all the files associated to the kde package?

Re: Help with KDE fonts.[Solved]

Be more verbose please. What specifically didn't work?
I'm afraid your installation is a mess by now. It would probably be easier to just reinstall.
make a list of the package you usually install, start a new installation, and the install that list with

pacman -S $(cat mylist)

Thats why i usually do when things go "crazy".

Re: Help with KDE fonts.[Solved]

Yea thanks for the all the help. I tried a few different thing but nothing changed except for some kde setting but nothing to do with the fonts. So I am just gonna do a fresh install. Thanks again.

Re: Help with KDE fonts.[Solved]

Does kdemod still use a patched QT?
Try pacman -S qt3

Re: Help with KDE fonts.[Solved]

The patch in KDEmod's qt3 package is only for the transparent rubberband (when selecting something), but it has nothing to do with fonts at all... Its funny how people always come with such arguments, without even taking a look at the package/patch(es) wink

Some suggestions...

1. Try it on a _fresh_ user
2. Did you change/update your graphics driver lately (or maybe something in xorg.xonf)?
3. Do you use any nonstandard packages, like the -lcd packages for fonts for example?

want a modular and tweaked KDE for arch? try kdemod

1.Tried making a fresh user and the fonts looks exactly the same.
2. Nothing changed except for the usual updates.
3. I don't know what the -lcd packages are so I don't believe so.

I would really like to save my system but it's not looking so good. Does this help?

archy@tuxbox:~$ pacman -Q | grep font
fontcacheproto 0.1.2-1
fontconfig 2.5.0-1
fontsproto 2.0.2-1
gsfonts 8.11-4
libfontenc 1.0.4-1
libxfont 1.3.2-1
libxfontcache 1.0.4-1
ttf-freefont 20060126-4
ttf-ms-fonts 2.0-1
xorg-font-utils 1.0.3-3
xorg-fonts-100dpi 1.0.1-1
xorg-fonts-75dpi 1.0.1-2
xorg-fonts-alias 1.0.1-1
xorg-fonts-encodings 1.0.2-2

Re: Help with KDE fonts.[Solved]

Ok, two suggestions from #kde:

1. try to change your widget style and restart kde
2. run the following command and post the output here: grep -i accel .kde/share/config/kdeglobals

If you cant solve this, i suggest to start your IRC client and go to the #kde channel on freenode and ask there... There are some very helpful people smile

Just dont reinstall now, maybe its a new bug wink

Re: Help with KDE fonts.[Solved]

grep -i accel .kde/share/config/kdeglobals:

archy@tuxbox:~$ grep -i accel .kde/share/config/kdeglobals
update_info=socks.upd:kde3.0/r1,kded.upd:kde3.0,klippershortcuts.upd:04112002,mouse_cursor_theme.upd:kde3.4.99,kaccel.upd:kde3.3/r1,kwin.upd:kde3.2Xinerama

I think I will try this: sudo pacman -Rcsn kde
An then reinstall kde.
