Gnome Keyboard Shortcut weirdness: Win-keys

Hello,

I am trying to get Win+(letter) shortcuts to launch applications under gnome (nautilus, evolution, firefox, etc). The weird facts:

* Only gnome-terminal accepts this type of shortcut (actually using win + t, any other letter works too - obviously? or not... read below!)
* No other applications will launch with any win + letter shortcut (or Function keys, for that matter). This includes "system" shortcuts such as "launch help browser", "home folder", etc, within gnome keyboard shortcuts apps, and custom shortcuts defined directly from gconf-editor metacity keys (I have done this a dozen times before and it always worked)
* All shortcuts work perfectly with Ctrl + Alt keyboard combinations. I suppose other possibilities work too: the problem seems to be with Win keys (with the exception of gnome-terminal, which is the really weird thing!!!)
* I have tried both Win is mapped to Super and Win is mapped to Hyper keyboard options.

Obviously this is nothing terrible, but it's weirdness bugs me: if only gnome terminal didn't work with a win key shortcut, I might let it rest...

I attach xorg.conf and xorg log in case anyone wants to look at it; I didn't find anything myself. Thanks in advance for any comments.
