Just discovered this app and I must say that I absolutely love it. However the only thing holding me back from using it full time is the fact it is lacking in last.fm support (submission). Is there a plugin system in development or some other way to get this to work?
edit: I know this is a luxury but how hard is it do get gapless support with flac? I know that mp3 is a bit hacky and i'm not sure about ogg. Thanks again for this awsome player

Try the SVN version.

I'm already using the latest SVN revision (529)
edit: Another question for the author Any chance of a way to update the library without rescanning all of my ~20000 songs?

Hi again,
i've observed somethings:1- imagine a playlist with 3 songs, A, B, C.
I select the 'shuffle' box and then select the song B to play (and i go sleep), then comes the song C, and then the song A and after this it stop, ok. (when i wake up) i go and just click play (remember that it stopped on the A song), after finish the song A it just stop, but have 3 songs in playlist.
The shuffle sequence don't have to be cleaned or something like this?2- [Opinion] Other case, the same 3 songs (A, B, C) in playlist, i mark the 'shuffle' and the 'repeat' option and click 'play', everything goes fine, but i hearding the song B, after finish of play it, the B song was selected again, and after again... (i know that the playlist is little, but it's just a example)
I marked the 'repeat' and 'shuffle' box to repeat the playlist in shuffle mode, repeat the same music i think that is not very nice. =/
Should be fixed in SVN trunk.
3- I have a song with a lot of characteres on the title, and when it goes to play, the status bar (where stays the song title) resized my Consonance window, and happen the same with the window maximized.
(Sorry my english.)
See ya! o/
I'll look into this.

Hi,
yesterday i change my desktop (LXDE + Openbox), to the tradicional GNOME.
Uninstalled many programs, upgrade my system and Consonance-svn (to rev. 534).
After reboot my system, i open 'consonance -e' on terminal, and now there's no OSD anymore, i take this on terminal:
** (consonance:2724): WARNING **: (show_osd): Unable to show OSD notification
I don't know what i did. Sorry. =/
Offline
Is notification-daemon installed ?
Offline
Thanks a lot, now it works!
It should be a dependence. =P
But, the first start after installing 'notification-daemon', that bar (that bar where have 'title', '#', 'album', 'artist', 'length', etc) just appears the length, and everything was selected, i drop the 'length' and nothing appears, so i drop everything, and i couldn't place something anymore (no option to select '#', 'title', 'album', 'artist', nothing), and nothing abnormal on terminal. I just restart the program and now everything is wonderful.
Thanks.

Just tried this out and it's brilliant and exactly what I'm looking for in a audio player but it needs audioscrobler/last.fm support.
Offline
Nice job, that's true...
However, some things I think are important (and didn't see directly in the player):
- Is there any streaming support?
- Equalizer (!) - this is missing in some of he even greater music players, and it would be both remarkable and mature (at least, to make your music player stand out that is) to implement some. I wouldn't know myself how to do it, but it would be nice...
Point being: Keep up the good work! I'm keeping an eye on this project!

i havent tried your app yet, but I would recommend looking at the Fox toolkit, it is VERY fast. Also, take a look at goggles media player, it may help you out in your coding.

No problems, just a question, is there a way to sync the volume level with the system?
Example: If i change the volume to 90%, my PCM volume goes to 90% and shows 90 in any control, but if i change this volume to 80% in any control, the Consonance control keep showing 90%.

Some idéas on the way:
*Bitrate display
*Album art - Should be able to chose place to store pictures
*Transparent panel icon
*One click to open/close submenus in library (eg artist > album etc...)

I must be missing something or noone else cares, but consonance never remembers its window size when I close it. Its a real PITA having to resize the window everytime I start it.
Is there some fix for this, or is that just the current state of the program? Im using the latest SVN release on Openbox.

I've never got this working...
$ consonance
** (consonance:3026): CRITICAL **: (init_config): Unable to load conrc, err: File is empty
** (consonance:3026): CRITICAL **: (alsa_init_mixer): Unable to find alsa mixer element : PCM
** (consonance:3026): CRITICAL **: (main): Unable to init audio
What information should I post to get this resolved?

Looks like you have a strange sound card with no PCM mixer element. You could probably change this to whatever your sound card's equivalent is in the source code pretty easily.

This is a bug. Thanks for pointing it out.

I think the size/position of the window is best left to the window manager.
But, maybe an option to maximize the window on bringup might be useful. Will look into it.

Well thats kinda the problem, the WM isnt doing anything with regards to the window size the window always pops up scaled down to the size of the menu bar (File/Help etc). Its the only program that does this for me.
