Kernel upgrade this date ...kernel panic

Kernel panic:  failed to load : lib modules 2.6.25-ARCH/modules.dep

First time for upgrade failure in years.

Prediction...This year will be a very odd year!

Re: Kernel upgrade this date ...kernel panic

What directories are there in /lib/modules/ - is there an 2.6.25-ARCH directory there?
Did you upgrade directly from repos, or via ABS?
Are you running on i686 or x86_64

Re: Kernel upgrade this date ...kernel panic

Running i686....Suspect I made a typo when running /sbin/lilo -v but  am not sure.

Presently in FaunOS and examining the system...don't find the new kernel so it seems I need to run /sbin/lilo -v again.

Don't remember how to do this while in a "live" boot Faunos.

In /lib/modules there is a kernel26 ....-25 installed so it confirms that the kernel was loaded but lilo not upgraded.

Re: Kernel upgrade this date ...kernel panic

The error messages are:

    /bin/mknod "dev/root" b 3 3
lib modules 2.6.25-ARCH/modules.dep...no such file or directory
/init: 1: Cannot open /dev/root..no such device or address

Kernel panic: unable to mount rootfs on dev(3,3)

I assume I have entered /sbin/lilo correctly.  Changes in the system cause this panic?

If one cannot use lilo any more, what to do?

Re: Kernel upgrade this date ...kernel panic

As reported, the upgrade was followed by /sbin/lilo -v with successful response.

The next reboot resulted in the kernel panic.

This is the very first time that lilo has failed to permit an upgrade.  Why?
