Game (Penumbra: Black Plague) freezes in videosequence

Hello

I've got a problem in one f the last videosequences of this game (link). When the screen fades to white, the game freezes and the only way to end it, is to send a kill-sig (it does not react to a term-sig or anything else).

The hpl.log shows

WARNING: Can't find sound 'player_scare_low' (may also be due too many sounds playing).
WARNING: Can't find sound 'player_heartbeat' (may also be due too many sounds playing).

for about 60.000 times.

I've tried several things,
starting with re-installation,
re-downloading and re-installation,
played around with sound options
and some other things suggested by the developers.
Here is a link to the thread I started in their forum (link).

Has anyone here an idea about it?

The demo and the game run without any problems until this position.

Info about my system:
Processor : AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor 3200+
Memory : 2075MB
Operating System : Arch Linux
Kernel : Linux 2.6.25-ARCH (i686)
OpenGL Renderer: GeForce 7600 GT/PCI/SSE2/3DNOW!
Audio Adapter: NFORCE - NVidia CK804
I run the game inside a separate X-Server(, 'cause I got two screens, but only want to use one for the game).
