Oh, I didn't spend much time searching for it, I just checked what's available in the Arch repositories, so in one way I'm still correct. It'd be nice to see a package (be it in Extra/Community or AUR) for us 64-bit users.

well, in community there's a package for it ( ftp://archlinux.puzzle.ch/community/os/ … pkg.tar.gz i.e.),
about a backport package... well, when i manage to find again the one i'm using, i'll surely put a PKGBUILD for it in AUR :)

Gah, the reason why I didn't find it was because I misspelled it! I was doing 'pacman -Ss tremuluos', got the o and u mixed up. D'oh! :-/

That just made my day! big_smile You've certainly got a point there though, its hard to tell apart otherwise.

Awesome work on the newsletter too (including Dusty), I enjoyed reading every bit of it smile

Re: Arch Linux Newsletter for June 04, 2008 Discussion

Just a simple and stupid thought:
How about naming the newsletters as 'Newsletter for Month' instead of 'Newsletter for Month Day'.
Since they are released monthly it sounds better, i believe.

The current one is great and i'm going to start the portuguese translation right now.

Cheers!

Hi, Schaffer, I never thought of that, will take it into consideration. And once you have the translation you can give me the link and I'll link to it on the official one.

Hi, people, just a thought, shall we do away with the Arch Linux Front Page news? I mean, is repetitive at best. What do you think guys?

That's what I thought when I read it. So my vote would be "yes".

Instead of dropping it altogether, lets condense/summarize the news items, maybe one line per news item. Link to front page news for more info. This would be useful for people who don't browse the front page much but want to keep up to date with arch by reading the newsletter.

Hm, so slimming it down. Sounds fair. And even more when it comes from the Senior Arch Swag Monger. Still it should read Schawg, is the law. big_smile

Re: Arch Linux Newsletter for June 04, 2008 Discussion

A friend of mine recently told me he didn't like the fact that you get an email on arch-general with just the link to the webpage hosting the newsletter. He thinks the newsletter itself should be included in the email.

As for me, I don't care, but I thought it was worth saying here.

Zazzle doesn't currently support paying with paypal, although some zazzle users are demanding this functionality be added. In the meantime, you might get by with the paypal plugin: https://www.paypal.com/paypalplug-in Unfortunately, AFAIK, this is only available to US users of paypal.

I use a good Syu when I am trying to avoid work...  Just on the very small chance something gets broken and I can try fixing it for the day!

I also post to the forums to avoid work.  Like now.  big_smile

thank you for your work smile

Keep me posted on your progress about this. It will make it to the newsletter if you do, and that way we can make more peoples life enjoyable. wink

here i am smile
took me some time to re-find it (it's very rare, indeed, and pretty much without referrals) :
http://www.trem-servers.com/index.php?page=downloads

doing a PKGBUILD soon, since it supports also SMP archs, would be great both for 32 and 64 bits smile

Regarding the Arch is not a Democray article - you poll people for contributions, whether monetary or technical, and have the hairy balls to write this?  No soup for you people.  On to Gentoo for me.  Have a nice life...

Re: Arch Linux Newsletter for June 04, 2008 Discussion

When did this thread turn into release name suggestions?

Arch 2008.08 - "Hairy Balls"
or maybe agressive... Arch 2008.08 - "Come back when they drop"
or perhaps sound impressive... Arch 2008.08 - "Balls to the wall"
or ...  Arch 2008.08 - "Let it all hang out"
or we could keep it simple... Arch 2008.08 - "Balls"

hmmm....

The suggestion box only accepts patches.
