everything freezes

After pm-suspend in a vertual terminal, if you startx, everything goes fine until you would think the wm would kick in.
Then my macbook freezes up and I have to hold down the power button.  Just restarting x works fine.

Any ideas?

Anything of interest in /var/log/{pm-}suspend.log?

Re: everything freezes

While running suspend and resume hooks it says

===== Thu Jun  5 10:08:01 EDT 2008: running hook: /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/10NetworkManager =====
Failed to open connection to system message bus: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/db

and only in resume hooks

===== Thu Jun  5 10:08:02 EDT 2008: running hook: /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/99video =====
Function not supported
