Re: xine bug after libpng update

Hi hypermegachi.

I haven't experienced this problem, but there are clearly other problems (for example, with KDE in general) with the recent upgrade of libpng.

Downgrade and your problems should go away:

I was able to find the package:

libpng-1.2.5-2.pkg.tar.gz

which is the penultimate release of libpng at the following site:

http://archlinux.antesis.org/0.7/os/i686/

After downloading this file, as root (or using sudo), run:

pacman -U libpng-1.2.5-2.pkg.tar.gz

Regards,

Win

Re: xine bug after libpng update

RC, alpha, beta, whatever they are all prereleases and likely buggy in some way. Rarely do you find stable-ish alpha/beta/RC software like xcdroast (which has been in alpha since the big bang)

Re: xine bug after libpng update

yeh, but RC is supposed to be a potential stable version.  so i woulda expected them to catch something like this before naming it RC

Re: xine bug after libpng update

you would think so. it is rare but sometimes the most obvious errors may not be prevalent when you are too familiar with the code and the system you are testing it on.

it should have been caught by the arch maintainers too .... theoretically. That is one of the reasons to use upgrade when official releases come out ... esp with libs.
