redid my xorg.conf now I can only boot with the vesa driver

my xorg.conf was messed up so I backed it up and uninstalledd the Cat-utiles and drivers then redid xorg following the instructions herehttp://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beg … figuring_X and here http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ATI  after I did all of that I couldn't log back in and I won't go through all the details of that ordeal in the end I ended up just changing the fglrx driver to vesa so I can boot to my desktop I checked to see if catalyst driver and utils are install and they are. but if I do the fglrinfo I get

fglrxinfo
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
OpenGL version string: 1.4 (2.1 Mesa 7.0.3)

which is confusing me because I thought that if I have installed the catalyst driver and utils all I had to do was change the driver ( in the xorg.conf) from vesa to fglrx . am I missing somthing here?
this is my new xorg.conf
