trying to get a printer working

I'm trying to install an hp 920c (or an hp 960c, but it doesn't work great in windows either).

I go to follow the directions in the wiki, and I can never find an messages in the logs regarding USB. I know the USB works and is plugged in correctly, as it goes great in windows. Hotplug is up and running, and recognizing USB as far as I can tell. Where do I go from here?

Thanks,
Dustin

Re: trying to get a printer working

Do you have a /dev/usb/lp0 or /dev/usblp0 node?  If so, then your printer should be okay and follow the rest of the wiki.  I have a 940c, so it should work fine.

Re: trying to get a printer working

just thought I'd post this for future reference.

After much searching I found this solution in the gentoo forums:

foomatic-configure -s cups -p HP-DeskJet_920C -c file:/dev/usb/lp0 -n HPDeskjet920C -d hpijs

Replace HP-Deskjet_920C w/ your printer's PPD file (I believe thats it)
Replace /dev/usb/lp0 with the path to your printer (dunno if this will work for paralell)
Replace HPDeskjet920C with what you want to call the printer
