Hi,
I'm having problems with (Adobe's) Flash when using Opera. A few sites open perfectly (youtube mainly), but in others it appears only a white screen (even youtube videos if they are shown in other site).
Is someone having the same problem or knows what to do?
Thanks

I'm facing similar problem with opera 9.5, but not sure is it only with flash or something else.
When I try to open www.nseindia.com, it just throws a blank white page with nothing it it.
Again, when I try to open orkut.com, it keeps on "redirecting" for sometime and then finally gives me a white page. But if I clear all the cookies, etc., I'm able to open orkut, but if I close and then reopen orkut, it is the same white page. So, everytime I have to clear cookies to open orkut.
I'm not able to log into my bank's site, https://infinity.icicibank.co.in/BANKAW … &abrdPrf=N

I do. It happens to me when there is too much flash around
For example if I open 2 youtube pages, their new player is very good at making the flash plugin crash.
A refresh "fixes" the problem though.
I was thinking about trying the flash 10 linux beta to see if the plugin is more stable.

How did you get the flash plugin to work with opera 9.2?

Have you filed a bug report? If no, do so here. Maybe they will fix this on their next release.

I just freshly installed kdemod + opera 9.5. Problem is, I can't get neither flash nor java working. I installed the latest flashplugin + j2re packages. The flashplugin is in the right place:
frost ~ $ ls /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
libflashplayer.so
This path is also set in opera's plugin options, yet it always says "no new plugins found".
I also set the correct java path ( /opt/java/jre/lib/i386/ ) and it's validated as well, however this page: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml responds with 'applet crashed' immediately after opening it, other java websites of course also don't work.

As lame and offtopic my post would be... I opened http://www.nseindia.com... In wine iexplore (The only thing I did was install flash player 9 for windows under wine... It works perfect with Gecko...)
If you cannot find any solution to your problems... That is a workaround...

I've had much more luck with the Flash 10 beta than with the 9.x version. It's been relatively stable and functional here. YMMV, of course.

That site's performing some pretty ugly browser checks, only letting browsers that identify themselves as IE or Netscape/Firefox see anything. There's a pretty quick fix that'll let you through: When visiting the site (the blank, white screen), go to Tools -> Quick Preferences -> Edit Site Preferences, then in the Network tab select "Identify as Firefox" from the "Browser identification" dropdown. No guarantee that means everything will work, but the site will load up, at least.

Flash is still something not-so-optimised in Opera. I was hoping things woulda gotten better with 9.5, but unfortunately, things are only 50% better, standing at 70% complete.
But the other winning side is SVG support. It's gotten to a stage where even Konqueror has been surpassed. Although I don't see SVG video becoming possible, SVG animations/widgets will. Less flash dependency = win, but as of now the test applets are quite resource-taxing.
As the above site, there are many more similar ones that are just plain evil. It's not Opera's fault..at least not entirely
I need real, proper pen and paper for this.

Can't remember, i guess i was using a symbolic link to the flash plugin, but I'm not sure,i've used a manual installation, i guess.
I've solved the problem, using the package flashplugin-beta-opera, installed using yaourt, flash is working now.
