Opera mplayerplugin

Hi,
Everything has been great with Arch Linux so far. This is the only problem I'm stuck with. Followed the instructions at http://www.opera.com/support/search/sup … ?index=224 and http://www.opera.com/linux/docs/plugins/. I have pointed opera to /opt/mozilla-plugins/. Mplayerplugin is visbile within opera but I can't view any videos at the Apples Trailer site. Worked fine in firefox.

Thanks.

Re: Opera mplayerplugin

AFAIR, mplayerplug-in had to be compiled with --enable-x option (at least in 0.80 version) in order to work with opera. I had some fun getting it to work some time ago. Currently, I've settled down with mozplugger instead of mplayerplug-in and it works more or less properly, but alas still with some little quirks.

Re: Opera mplayerplugin

I couldn't get mplayer-plugin-3.xx to work with Opera. My not-so-elegant solution is to use the latest version of the plugin with Firefox and version 2.75 (compiled with --enable-x) with Opera. It plays those trailers in the Apple site just fine.

Re: Opera mplayerplugin

Tools - Preferences - Advanced - Content - Plug-in options - Plug-in path:
/usr/lib/opera/plugins:/opt/mozilla-plugins

...and install what mozilla plugin you want.

Re: Opera mplayerplugin

I also had a problem with the mplayer plugin.
I googled a bit and discovered that the new plugin have a problem with opera. My solution was to install mozplugger and use that as a video plugin in opera. That solved the problem, at least for apple's trailer site.

Re: Opera mplayerplugin

I decided to refresh this topic as Opera v. 9.5 came out and AFAIK it supports the new mplayerplug-in. Unfortunately I cannot find those plugins on my system, but I'm sure they're installed as Firefox uses them O.K.

[zibi1981@felipe ~]$ find . -name mplayer\*
./.kde/share/icons/crystal_project/16x16/apps/mplayer.png
./.kde/share/icons/crystal_project/22x22/apps/mplayer.png
./.kde/share/icons/crystal_project/32x32/apps/mplayer.png
./.kde/share/icons/crystal_project/48x48/apps/mplayer.png
./.local/share/applications/mplayer.desktop
./Dokumenty/Arch Linux/Opera/Info/mplayer plugin enable x compile.tar.gz
./Pobrane/Wygląd i dźwięki KDE/Ikonki/Inne/mplayer48x48.png
[zibi1981@felipe ~]$ pacman -Qs mplayer
local/mplayer 1.0rc2-3
    A movie player for linux
local/mplayer-plugin 3.50-3
mplayerplug-in is a browser plugin that uses mplayer to play videos from
    websites.
local/smplayer 0.6.0-1
    A complete front-end for MPlayer
local/smplayer-themes 0.1.15-1
    Themes for smplayer

They're not in /opt/mozilla/lib/plugins, nor in ~/.mozilla/plugins, so where are they?

Re: Opera mplayerplugin

It's nice, but as someone wrote in the comments to this AUR package

cromo wrote:

Just want to let you know that once the 9.5 final is out, there will no more be the need for recompiling the plugin specially for Opera, as the 9.5 implements the GTK main loop allowing different GTK plugins to work properly.

So how make it work?

That was it guys smile Unfortunately I still can't make the original mplayerplug-in work in Opera 9.5 sad The one from AUR isn't much better as it works on some websites, but doesn't on other.

Do they work in Opera 9.5?
