Was editing my .awesomerc today and after one of my edits (I was changing an icon) I reloaded the desktop and when it started back up it was using the default rc. I used 'awesome -k' and found that awesome was calling perfectly legitimate options invalid. I took this to mean that there was an error in syntax somewhere that was causing the options to read wrong, so I started over from scratch. Now awesome isn't displaying icons even though they are in their default locations and the rc is pointed to the correct place.

If you've solved the problem (as I assume from the edit subject) could you post the solution so that others will find it when searching?
