Vmware64bit + Direct3D... anyone succeed?

I tried to enable Direct3D for Windows XP (32bit XP) under VMware, and it failed utterly. The machine will not boot up with the Direct3D enabled. I REALLY need it if I'm ever going to get MapleStory working, though. I am getting a hint that my issue *may* be that VMware wants 32bit NVIDIA, and yet I have 64 bit, since my kernel is 64bit. Thus it seems like a chroot might also not work, since that still uses the 64 bit kernel. Has anyone gotten Direct3D working with their 32bit virtual workstation on Arch64, and if so, how did they do it?

As far as I know, vmware's direct3d support is experimental. I don't know anybody who has been able to run direct3d on a VM.
vmware 6.5 comes with D3D by default, but there is no relase date. Until then, I suggest you to use virtualbox if you need direct3d urgently.

You might try crossover office if works for your application.

MapleStory will not run on VirtualBox, only VMware, and it DEFINITELY won't run on WINE/Crossover Office, because of GameGuard. Thus I'm stuck with VMware. I know it is experimental but a lot of people HAVE gotten it working, so I was just wondering.

How come it won't work on VirtualBox ?
