CD/DVD burning SLOW

Hi,

I have this problem with my Asus A6JC laptop. It's CD/DVD burner is really, really slow. I mean, it says it can write 24x CD speed (4234kb/s) but it usually does at about 10x using k3b. It says it can do 8x DVD (11080 kB/s) but its doing at about but it's at it's best at around 0.9x hmm

I've found this information in k3b faq http://k3b.plainblack.com/faq, but it didn't help as I have DMA enabled (both according to hdparm and dmesg output).

If I run cdrecord dev=/dev/hdb -prcap I get all the nice information about the device capabilities. Check this out:

cdrecord dev=/dev/hdb -prcap

Re: CD/DVD burning SLOW

If you both are using KDE, try to disable the KDED media manager (Kcontrol -> KDE Components -> Service Manager)
