I'm presently running pekwm along with amarok and other kde apps.
I wanted to try kdemod-4 and looked at the install instructions in their website. They ask to remove all kde and qt3 stuff before proceeding with the installation. But if I do remove that then there are lot of stuff that depend on kde-common, qt3, and many other that depend on those which depend on kde, qt3. So, if I remove forcefully qt3 and kde, then wont it break dependencies and mess things up. how shall I proceed with kdemod4 installation?

But, be carefully, KDEmod 4.0 is not stable yet!

You shouldn't have to remove any kde3 stuff, the instructions MilosC linked to say to remove qt and qtmod, but that's only qt4 things that will get replaced when you install the rest of kde4. I'm running kde3 and kde4 on the same computer with no problems (though I have a special user for kde4, it was needed before but I'm not sure if it still is but it's still nice to keep things separate for now.

but this says http://www.kdemod.ath.cx/get-step1.html asks to remove all stuff.
It asks to do
pacman -Q | grep kde qt
and hence i have to remove the following packages
kde-common kdelibs qt dbus-qt3 qt3

Finally, i was able to get kdemod4 installed and put kdm4 in rc.conf. Now, I do get kdm, but after logging in, i get the flash screeen that kde stuff is loading and then it crashes and takes me back to login screen.
And now even after installing amarok and k3b, they do not work. If I type amarok or k3b on console it throws up "commond not found"
