I recently replaced my mouse (logitech LX7) because the left button was starting to wear out. Anyways, my new mouse is a Logitech MX400 Performance Laser. I quickly discovered that it was acting odd. Whenever I press the back/forward browser buttons on it, the mouse frequently (>50% of the time) acts like I pressed the buttons twice. So when I use those buttons with firefox, it browses two pages back or forward, instead of just one page. Any idea on how to fix it? It's configured with BTNX.

Well, i smash my mouse regularly with a plastic hammer, and this behavior disappears for some month.
Really, thats true. I have a Logitech MX 610 and my left and right mouse button acts like you describe every now and then. Beeing cruel to my Logitech had always helped. (Of course i tried other methods before i found out that this helps.) So if you can cut away any other reasons (maybe you can try out to rename your xorg.conf and start X without a DE) you can try this mechanic method.
