Hi,
I'm trying to install Archlinux on a new computer, using the FTP ISO 2007.08-2 (i686). I partition the disk, select the packages, then the installer download them. When it tries to install them, I get the error message "missing package filelist" for each package. I tried 3 differents mirrors, and got the same errors.
I'm in trouble, since the computer must be usable sunday evening
Would anyone know how to fix this ? What did I do wrong ? I installed Archlinux on several other computers without any problem, but here i'm stuck.
Thank you.

I'd try using the CD install rather than the ftp install. There probably is an actual solution to your problem but I can't think of it at the moment and the CD install has never failed me.

I tried with the core cd and it worked.
Thank you!
(Anyway I'd be interested about knowing why the FTP install failed )

I believe it is to do with new packages not having an embedded FILELIST file. New version of pacman generate this by itself. The 2007-08 install CD has an old version of pacman which fails to deal with these.

Thank you for this information.
Archlinux ISOs should be updated, new users may be disturbed by this bug...

This should really be fixed. Atleast remove the ftp install iso from all mirrors since it does not work!
Hello, I am normal!

All you have to do is install a newer version of pacman:
1. Edit /etc/pacman.d/core by moving a preferred mirror to the top of the list or typing in the URL of a new mirror at the top; then
2. Run pacman -Sy pacman.
From there, you can continue the installation like normal.
