Hi.....
AN ASIDE: The 2008.06 release today is so great. And, I believe there's also an immensely cool USB boot aspect using the .img version. Read a post of two about it.
RE: INSTALLING ALL IN SINGLE ROOT PARTITION
LONG story though I wanna put EVERYTHING in one partition..... for fun.... NO SWAP and JUST a ROOT partition...
Could I ask a kind guru for the tips.... did the usual search and wiki look....
I guess it's done from the grub command prompt after booting install CD??
Or maybe it's much more complicated...
I'd love to try it....
thank you!!!!!

Faunos is already a single partition system w/o swap and boots from USB flash and has 600 archlinux pacman packages manageable with PacTrac, a pacman GUI.
Check it out...
Prediction...This year will be a very odd year!

Nice lilsirecho!
I did faunOS for a bit.... thanks for tip....good to know it's practical to do the single partition thing.
So... really I need to try it with arch...
I GUESS I could do a standard install 3 partitions?
Then I could create a swap FILE and then wipe the swap partition..
Actually I'm all over the net and haven't found any tips much ...yet
I'm now trying to get the ARCH installer to do the install as I've just wiped the drive so there's NO partitions other than ONE ...I don't think this will work though...
Ideas welcomed!

Well...!
I wiped the drive (I had had 3 partitions on there before)
And now things are going better as I got an option for NONE in the mountpoints section of install....
so... unless I missed something having a blank drive and with cfdisk only creating ONE bootable primary seems to have been getting me further.... will update this shortly...
UPDATE: seemed to be going well - grub installed right - installing xorg now...
