APM confusion

I have been reading through the forums and it seems that apm should be enabled in the stock 2.4.27 kernel (i can't find it in the config tho) but

modprobe apm

returns module not found and if i try to run apm or apmd i get

No APM support in kernel

Have i missed something?

Re: APM confusion

If you have more than one processor, or an hyperthreaded one, APM is disabled at boot, because it's incompatible with smp.

And where were all the sportsmen who always pulled you though?
