Hi all,
Recently I had a huge problem, gnome recognizes almost everything as plain text document and tries to open them in gedit. However I can open them properly by using open with. I checked my ~/.local/share/applications/defaults.list and /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache and they seemed ok. This thing drives me crazy, because when I open a file with the open with menu it affects all other files no matter what extension they have. How can I get over it? Thanks in advance.

Hi!
Same thing happened to me... every file try to open with gedit since the last update.
Even if i try to change this in the properties tab... << open with "the program" >> but it doesn't remember the setting too
EDIT : I found this.
I'll try this way when back at home.

Removing ~/.local/share/mime/mime.cache and restarting gnome seems to solve the problem for the time being

Please use the search function.
I did, with the keywords "open with".
It returned me this thread. (I was asking me which words would find anything)
Later, i've tried with "plain text" and then i found the solution...
Sorry for this...
PS : sorry for my bad english too ^^

Ohh, thank You very much.
I thought that I will be definitely crazy because of using "open with..." for everything.
Removing ~/.local/share/mime/mime.cache and restarting gnome realy works
