One-button mouse woes

Hey all,

I'm running arch on my macbook pro 2nd generation. I have only one mouse button. I'd like the right click to be mapped to "CTL + MOUSE 1". Is there anyway I can do this?

The synaptics driver allows right-click via a three-finger tap on the touchpad... If it's the touchpad you're referring to that has only one button, try that.

you could just buy a normal mouse. they're way cheaper than that mac stuff.

I know synaptic drivers can do the 3 finger right click, my right click is set to upper right corner. But again I would like it to be control click for right click. Just something I got used to in OS X.

In xmodmap are there keycodes for mouse clicks or are keycodes strictly for keys and pointers strictly for mouse buttons?

The program xev will interactivly tell you which X inputs are being read. Note that mouse clicks generate events, look at the output from the mouse events.

yuk! i hate touchpads. i'm horrible at typing, so i have to look at the keys when i type. when i look up to see what i've typed, sometimes, it looks like my cat walked across the keyboard.

Which Window Manager are you using? if you wanted to try fluxbox or blackbox, you can create your own keyboard shortcuts to solve this problem. or you could give Ratpoison a shot and kill the rat all together
then again, you might be more comfortable sticking with Gnome or KDE, but what's the fun in that?

I used openbox for a long time, haven't used fluxbox or blackbox. I'm using KDEmod now, I wanted something new and shiny. Maybe I'll migrate back.
