lost functionality of up arrow key in konsole

i can no longer look up old commands when i press the up arrow key in konsole terminal, how can i get it back.
I thought it was because of num lock stuff but it does not work either way, I have suddenly lost that functionality
Iam using kdemod4

I am sorry could have edited the topic heading, I posted a while back but did not get any response, I am still stuck with the issue I thought a better heading might help. Maybe mods can delete the old one, or this one..
